can i do on how the sun's gravity... or any planet's gravity helps it stay on orbit? :D

Can i do abt the physics of animal movement?

Wu Fan said

Oh my gosh we could? Coz I thought we had to follow the topics given. .__. Hmn if we could I'm going to change my topic. -.-

No fixed topics, those given are just some examples.

Sorry Mr Ang, but I have a cough and will probably not be in good condition to present on Monday, so perhaps maybe I could switch to 17 May as the rest have been taken up. Sorry. :(

I just swop you with Lydia, so you can present earlier on 3 May Thu.

Mr Ang, do u think it will be feasible to do sonething about the way pen twirling works? Thanks :)

johnlittlephysics said

at 11:03 pm on Apr 28, 2012

Hi Lauretta, why not?
- You mean the way students like to play with their pen by twirling it around the thumb?
- may be able to find something on the internet.
- related to turning effect of forces (turning moments)
- related to rotational inertia - tendency of object to keep going in a circle (like a propeller)

Hi Mr Ang can I do on 17 May?
I`m interested in aurora borealis

Chan Qiu Qing said

at 11:27 am on Apr 29, 2012

Like how aurora borealis can appear and stuff like that

johnlittlephysics said

Hi Qiu Qing, sure. This is an interesting and beautiful subject - show images of this phenomenon.
1. Currently, our sun is displaying high solar activity (solar storm), giving out much charged particles which when they reach the earth's magnetic field, causes lots of this phenomenon.
See http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2012/22mar_saber/
2. Associated with this are stories that the Earth would end in 2012:

Hi Mr Ang, can I do anything related to Percy Jackson, love or wolves?

johnlittlephysics said

at 10:55 pm on Apr 30, 2012

Hi Yi Ning, Percy Jackson's stories of demigods would be expected to defy most natural laws of physics.
Still you can Google "physics of Percy Jackson" or related terms to find out more.

Certainly!

Hi Mr Ang, can I present on 17 May? Can my topic be the Physics behind dance? For instance, how ballerinas can balance, turn and give the illusion of floating while leaping, etc...? I've found some websites and stuff about the topic already, which could help. :)

johnlittlephysics said

at 2:41 pm on May 1, 2012

Yes. Great topic. Some relation to circular motion and rotational dynamics.

Hi Mr Ang, it's okay if I'm doing my show and tell about games which include the use of physics like Angry Birds and Cut the Rope, right?

johnlittlephysics said

at 5:28 am on May 3, 2012

I like these games too. You may highlight the related physics topics applied in these games. I assume you have an iPad or tablet to show these games.

nikkimeh said

at 8:44 pm on May 3, 2012

I will be presenting about Angry Birds, and there's an online version of it that I can use to do a demonstration. Is that okay?

I'm okay with either 9 May or 17 May depending on vacancies.

johnlittlephysics said

at 9:34 pm on May 3, 2012

I have to remove 9 May cos it is scheduled for your class SPA Skill 1Test.
You may use my iPad to demonstrate Angry Birds http://db.tt/lEymP2pj
Or Cut the Rope http://db.tt/BXrD00cw

oh wait can I change my topic to physics of running? Sorry and thank you!

johnlittlephysics said

at 9:37 pm on May 3, 2012

Certainly, running involves much physics concepts. You may present on 17 May or earlier if ready.

Hi Mr Ang, can i do my show and tell about the viscosity of liquid?

johnlittlephysics said

at 9:50 pm on May 13, 2012

Yes, this has many real-life applications.

CS Chow said

Hi Mr Ang,

Could I do my show and tell on the 17th of May? Thanks!
I'm doing on the physics of My Little Pony :)

CS Chow said

at 6:30 pm on May 5, 2012

...I think.

johnlittlephysics said

at 9:51 pm on May 13, 2012

Yes. That's an unusual topic - a real pony?

CS Chow said

at 12:55 pm on May 15, 2012

...no, actually. I am presenting on a physical impossibility in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, a certain "children's cartoon show". :)

Lauretta Cheng said

Mr Ang, i guess i will do on the topic of boomerangs because i already have some info on it :)

johnlittlephysics said

at 9:53 pm on May 13, 2012

Wow, boomerangs is interesting - people who applied physics before physics can explain it.

Hi Mr Ang, Jade would like to do her show and tell on the 14th. (im kinda signing up on her behalf because she cannot access the page :/)
She would like to do on plasma :)

Thank You!

May not have time. Would put her on the last session 17 May.
