Hi Mr Ang, what do you mean by work is done? As in, how do you explain the meaning of work done?

In physics, work is done if a force moves an object through a distance. E.g. A force is needed to move a molecule further away from another molecule, so work is done in the process and energy is stored as potential energy. Hence when a substance is heated, its molecules move further apart with an increase in potential energy.
Btw, work done is learnt in Sec 2 & 3.

These are forces existing between neighbouring molecules in a substance. It is an attractive force when molecules are moving apart, hence a force is needed to pull molecules further apart (increase separation or spacing), as described in previous post above.

Latent heat just refers to the thermal energy that is absorbed or given out during a change of state, without a change in temperature. No detailed knowledge is expected or assessed at Sec 1. Btw, do post questions under the specific topics for your class. Thanks.
